Randy Dunn was the winemaker at Caymus Vineyards from 1975 to 1982. He was influential in developing the producer into the Cabernet Sauvignon powerhouse that it is today. The Caymus Special Selection Cab has been an unwavering critical and commercial success for over 3 decades.

Dunn Vineyards is located in the Howell Mountain AVA. Dunn and his neighbor jointly own a 10 acre vineyard. This property is meticulously maintained and is responsible for some of Napa’s first cult Cabs. Along with his Howell Mountain property, Dunn also buys grapes from John Caldwell’s vineyard. He currently makes about 5,000 cases of these 2 Cabs.

Dunn recently purchased an additional 47 acres planted with 15 acres of Zinfandel and Petite Sirah. This vineyard is also located in the Howell Mountain AVA. There are plans to also plant the land with red Bordeaux varietals.

Dunn now devotes himself to his property, but remains one of the valley’s most esteemed consultants. Few have been more influential to the stylistic development of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
