Chateau Rodin was established in 1981 by Raymond and Barbara McKay. This beautiful property has striking views of the surrounding El Dorado AVA. The winery’s Barbera and Reserve Zinfandel are particularly good.

Chateau Rodin is located in the El Dorado AVA which in turn is part of the much larger Sierra Foothills AVA. In 1978, Raymond and Barbara McKay began the difficult process of clearing their land to plant vineyards. Three years later, they planted their first Zinfandel and Chardonnay.

As the McKays learned more about their land, they realized it was a good fit for Bordeaux varietals. In the 1980s and 1990s, they also planted Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Barbera. Raymond and Barbara McKay take particular pride in treating their land well. They use natural solutions to pests and diseases whenever possible.

The McKays currently produce Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Barbera, Reserve Zinfandel, late harvest Zinfandel, and late harvest Chardonnay. The estate vineyard at Chateau Rodin sits at about 2,600 feet above sea level. Days are warm and sunny, balanced by cool breezy nights.
