Yorkville Cellars celebrates 20 years of Pesticide Free Farming

Yorkville Highlands’ Yorkville Cellars celebrated its 20th anniversary being pesticide free.

org After planting their first vineyards in 1982, Yorkville Cellars applied for their California Organic Farmers Certification. The certification process takes four years to complete, and they were certifies in 1986. Twenty years later, they are still certified, and have no plans of farming other wise.

Yorkville Cellars has two estate vineyards on their ranch, and both are certified organic. Their Randle Hill Vineyard was planted in 1982, and contains 13 acres of organic Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon vines.

The vineyard adjacent to Yorkville Cellars tasting room on Highway 128 is called Rennie Vineyard. Planted in 1990, it is planted with Bordeaux Varietals; Cabernet Sauvignon, Cab Franc, Merlot, Petite Verdot and Malbec.
