Thornton Winery to Host Winemaker Dinner
Temecula Valley's Thornton Winery is set to host its Winemaker's Dinner.
On March 10th, 2007 at 6:30 p.m., Thornton Winery will host a winemaker dinner in their Champagne Caves. What makes this event different than most is that unlike most wineries, Thornton has a restaurant on the property (Café Champagne).
Chef de Cuisine Liam Griffin will prepare a five course meal and winemaker Don Reha will discuss each pairing and the reasoning behind it. Any questions will be answered as well.
Thornton Winery produces some very good sparkling wines as well as Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Moscato, White Zinfandel, and late harvest Zinfandel.
The menu is as follows:
- 1st Course: Duck Confit Crostini and Pear/Brie Phyllo Purse paired with Thornton NV Cuvee Rouge.
- 2nd Course: Forest Mushroom Bisque paired with Thornton 2001 Cote Red.
- 3rd Course: Wild Alaskan King Salmon paired with Thornton 2005 Zinfandel.
- 4th Course: Braised Beef Short Rib paired with Thornton 2004 Estate Syrah.
- 5th Course: Chocolate Walnut Torte paired with Thornton 2004 Late Harvest Zinfandel.
