The Lake County Wine Alliance distributes funds from Auction
01/31/07 – The Lake County Wine Alliance held their 2006 Wine Auction at Steele Wines in the Red Hills AVA.
The beneficiaries of the Lake County Wine Alliance wine auction were announced yesterday. They raised over $115,000 for local charity organizations. Since the first auction in 2000, the Wine Alliance has raised over $530,000. The three categories benefiting from the wine auction were Arts, Health and Community.
$36,000 went to the fine arts education programs at five local Lake County high schools. The recipient schools were Upper Lake High School, Lower Lake High School, Clear Lake High School, Middletown High School and Kelseyville High School.
$37,000 went to health related Lake County organizations. The beneficiaries included, Church Women United, Hospice Services of Lake County, the Community Care HIV/AIDS project, Highlands Senior Service Center, Lucerne Alpine Seniors, Middletown Senior Center and the Lakeport Senior Activity Center.
$36,000 went to community related organizations. The beneficiaries included the Soper-Reese Community Theatre, the Free Kitchen Project, the Catholic Charities Food Pantry and St. Vincent De Paul.
