Stags Leap’s Shafer Vineyards releases their new One Point Five and Red Shoulder Ranch Chardonnay.

shafer The 2004 Shafer One Point Five marks the first vintage of Shafer Vineyards new wine. John and Doug Shafer made a wonderful video explaining why they decided to release this new wine and what it means to them. According to James Laube, “the 2004 One Point Five is terrific. It’s intense, with rich, vivid Cabernet flavors and the telltale supple texture associated with Stags Leap reds.” Cost: $65.

Shafer’s spring release also included their popular Red Shoulder Ranch Chardonnay. The 2005 vintage is made from 100% Chardonnay fruit grown in the Estate Carneros Vineyard. According to Robert Parker Jr., the 2005 Red Shoulder Ranch Chardonnay “… continues the success [Shafer’s] had with this full-throttle, widely available Chardonnay … the 2004 exhibits abundant fruit, honeysuckle, apricot, and citrus oil characteristics in its classic, full-bodied personality.” Cost: $45.
