Robert Mondavi Announced Launch of New Bordeaux Style Wine
Oakville’s Robert Mondavi winery announced the launch of a new Bordeaux Style wine called Vinetta made from the five Meritage varietals.
A red wine blend made with the classic Bordeaux varietals was added today to Robert Mondavi’s Private Selection label. Inspired by Mondavi’s travels to Europe, Vinetta is made with Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The wine’s name, Vinetta, is based on the Latin word vinae, meaning vine.
The production of this wine is no surprise, considering that red blend’s, especially Bordeaux style blends sales are up 19% from last year. Even more telling, California’s red blends are growing faster than any of the single red varietals, including Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
Vinetta is made from fruit grown from California’s Central and North Coasts. It will arrive in stores and restaurants in early April. Suggested retail; $11.

I am a fan of Mondavi's wines. I recently tried his Vinetta, 2005, and think it is his best. It is a red mix, and very nice
