Peay Vineyards Releases new Wines
Sonoma Coast’s Peay Vineyards has released two new estate Pinot Noirs.
Peay Vineyards makes wine exclusively from their 48-acre hilltop vineyard in the Sonoma Coast AVA. Thirty-three of those acres are planted with Pinot Noir, which they used to make two new wines.
Peay 2005 Pomarium Estate Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast
- Yeilds for the 2005 vintage were very low, on the order of ½ ton per acre. This has produced an extracted Pinot, with complex flavors. The majority of the 2005 Pomarium is comprised of Dijon clones 667, 777 and 115. According to the winery, “the Pomarium is vibrant, attractive and racy with medium weight and a clean finish.”
Peay 2005 Scallop Shelf Estate Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast
- Like the Pomarium, the yields were very low for the Scallop Shelf Estate Pinot. According to the winery, it has “flavors of forest floor, mushroom and dried cherry linger on the palate long after the last sip. The Scallop Shelf is built to last and will develop with bottle age. Drink one now after a 45 minute decant to gauge the style and cellar the remainder for at least 3-5 years and longer.”
