New Record Set at Napa Valley Auction
History was made at the 2006 Napa Valley Auction when the Staglin Family lot went for a record $1.05 million.
Auction Napa Valley is an annual event hosted by the Napa Valley Vintner’s Association. It seems like a record is set each year, and this one was no different. But this year, it was set by the Staglin Family Vineyards lot.
The lucky bidder, Joy Craft, is a life long philanthropist and was very pleased to win the Staglin lot. After winning the bid, she was quoted, “My entire life I’ve been inspired by philanthropy. It’s who I am. It’s what I do. I grew up in a farming family. It’s part of my DNA coming here and being with the vines and the dirt. If I can be an example to others, great.”
The money raised by this event supports local youth services health care, and low-income housing. After the dust settled, the auction raised 6.8 million dollars for charity. This was the largest sum of money raised by Auction Napa Valley in its 25 year history.
