Lewis Cellars Releases new Wines

Oak Knoll’s Lewis Cellars releases a Cabernet and two Chardonnays.

lewis Lewis Cellars makes its home in the Napa Valley’s Oak Knoll wine region. They produce limited quantity of premium quality wines. One of their best is the Lewis Reserve Cabernet, and they have just released the 2004 vintage of that wine.

Lewis 2004 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley

  • This wine is made from grapes grown in Pritchard Hill, Calistoga, Rutherford and Oak Knoll hillside vineyards, and is blended with 8% Cabernet Franc. According to the winery, “the nose is a powder keg of explosive black fruit and blueberries with seamlessly fused oak spices, cedar, cocoa and espresso. The palate is a cannonball of concentrated core fruit with delicious, chewy texture and rich, round mouthfeel that travels leagues on sinewy tannins.” Production was limited to 1,300 cases, at $125 per bottle.

Lewis 2005 Reserve Chardonnay, Napa Valley

  • This is Lewis Cellars flagship wine. It was aged sur lies in 100% French Oak. According to the winery, this wine is “packed with loads of Meursault-like character the first swirl displays layers of showy stone-fruit with complex mineral, slate, tapioca and spicy oak aromas.” Production was limited to 300 cases, at $60 per bottle.

Lewis 2005 Chardonnay, Barcaglia Lane, Russian River Valley

  • Barcaglia is a small vineyard in the rolling hills of the Russian River Valley AVA. According to the winery, “the 2005 vintage delivers superlative depth and intensity, with layers of blood orange, pear nectar, citrus blossom, honeysuckle, and seductive oak spices. Saturated, rich and round with a deeply fruited core, it retains integrated acidity that brings balance and great length to the wine.” Production was limited to 200 cases, at $60 per bottle.
