Mark as Favorite

Wilson Creek Winery was founded in 1995 by the Wilson Family. What started as a basement project in Minnesota has turned into a full fledged powerhouse, producing 60,000 cases of wine annually.

Wilson Creek Winery is known for their comprehensive wine collection, as well as innovative wines with distinct flavors and textures. They also produce several versions of sparkling wine, including the award winning almond flavored bubbly. Attesting to their quality and imagination, they have the fastest growing wine club in California.

As one of the foremost producers of fine wine in Temecula, Wilson Creek has developed a reputation for having a very well-rounded wine collection. Most of the wine that Wilson Creek produces is made with grapes from their 60 acre vineyard. Several varietals are grown in their vineyards and much of their grape production is sold to other wineries.

Some of their more interesting wines include a white Cabernet Sauvignon, Angelica Sherry and a Zinfandel Port. Wilson’s Chenin Blanc is cold-fermented and then additionally fermented in oak on its lees where it undergoes a bit of malolactic fermentation. Their Petite Sirah is sourced from old-vines in Lodi and aged in American and French oak.

The Almond flavored Champagne style Sparkling Wine is very distinctive and has won several awards in local, state and international wine competitions. Wilson Creek also produces a Chocolate Port called Decadencia with fruit from 100 year old Zinfandel vines.

Wilson Creek’s Estate Bottled Cabernet Sauvignon tastes of blackberry and plum. In addition to their Cab, Wilson Creek also produces an Estate Zinfandel and a “Pinot Mour” which is a blend of Pinot Noir and Mourvedre.

Of their white wine, the most popular is their Estate White Cabernet Sauvignon. This innovative wine tastes of ripe peach and grapefruit with a hint of honey. Wilson Creek also produces a delicate Sauvignon Blanc and a Quartet Blanc, which is a blend of Viognier, Chardonnay, Semillon, and Sauvignon Blanc.

The grounds at Wilson Creek are a perfect place to hold special events. They have hosted several popular television shows, including Blind Date.

I have tasted the almond champagne many times and appreciate it being served as something unique but I have to comment that it is a little amateur becasue of the synthetic almond flavor. It is a nice idea that needs to be refined to be drank on its own. However, it is excellent for champagne-poached pears.

I'm not a big fan of infusing flavors into wine, but tried their Almond flavored champagne and really liked it.
