The 400 acre Volker Eisele Family Estate is located in the Chiles Valley AVA. The land is part of the original Rancho Catacula land grant given to Colonel Joseph Chiles by General Mariano Vallejo.
Volker and Liesel’s daughter, Christine, has a degree in viticulture and enology from UC Davis and consults during the winemaking process. The Eisele’s son, Alexander, is the vineyard manager and head of sales. Alexander’s wife, Catherine, is in charge of public relations. John McKay has been the winemaker at Volker Eisele for over a decade. He has been making wine in Napa since the 1970s.
Volker Eisele specializes in red Bordeaux varietals. The winery makes a Cabernet Sauvignon with a little bit of Cabernet Franc and Merlot that was aged in French oak for 22 months. A little less than 2,000 cases were produced for the 2003 vintage. All of the grapes were grown the winery’s organically farmed estate vineyard.
The Terzetto is a Bordeaux blend of one-third Cabernet Sauvignon, one-third Merlot, and one-third Cabernet Franc. It was aged in 100% French oak from the Allier and Troncais forests. Between 300 and 500 cases are made each year.
