In 1991, John Dyson bought the property that would become Vista Verde from Almaden. His first career was a wealth manager. He is noted for helping to develop the Smith-Dyson trellis system.
Vista Verde grows Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Syrah, Viognier, Pinot Noir, Tocai Friulano, and Arneis. Most of the grapes are sold to Kendall-Jackson, Beringer, Au Bon Climat, and David Bruce. Dyson uses some of the fruit for his Millbrook wines.
In 1998, Dyson bought the premium quality Pinot Noir producer Williams & Selyem. All of his holdings are under Pebble Ridge Vineyards and Estates which is based in New York.
