Villa Mt Eden produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay with grapes grown in AVAs throughout California. They own 226 acres of vines in Yountville, 196 acres in Monterey County, and 400 acres in Paso Robles. The winery also buys fruit from Napa Valley, Sonoma County, Monterey, and Santa Maria Valley.
Villa Mt Eden makes several categories of wine. Their Grand Reserve and Signature labels are the best quality and most expensive. These wines have been particularly embraced by several high profile wine critics.
Mike McGrath has been the winemaker since 1982. After graduating from UC Davis, he traveled extensively and worked in wine regions throughout the world before returning to California. McGrath gained additional experience at Charles Krug in St Helena and William Hill in Oak Knoll before starting at Villa Mount Eden.
Some of their best wines include the Bien Nacido Pinot Noir, Monte Rosso Zinfandel, and Tall Trees Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery also makes excellent Syrah and Chardonnay.
