The production facilities of Van Ruiten Family Winery were constructed in 2000, but the family’s farming roots go back far longer. Dutch immigrant John Van Ruiten purchased his initial land during the 1950s. Through his and subsequent generations’ “sweat equity,” the winery has emerged as one of Lodi’s finest.

The 2003 Late Harvest Zinfandel has concentrated flavors of cherries and raspberries with a bit of spice and toast from being aged in oak barrels. The Van Ruiten Family recommends pairing this wine with chocolate or a raspberry tart.

The 2003 Van Ruiten Family Winery Lodi Chardonnay has melon, apricot, and tropical fruit flavors. Part of this wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks with the remainder fermented and aged in French oak barrels.

Some of the winery’s other current releases include the 2003 Lake County Sauvignon Blanc, 2003 Home Ranch Reserve Chardonnay, 2002 Syrah, 2004 Pinot Gris, 2003 Petite Sirah, 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2002 Old Vine Zinfandel, 2003 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, and 2004 Rose of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz.
