Bill Cadman had early success producing unpretentious Pinot Noir in the region’s relatively cool, wind swept climate. Cadman currently makes about 2,000 cases of wine a year.
Tulocay Winery makes Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, Syrah, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay. All of these wines are from a single vineyard.
The winery’s Chardonnay is made in a fruit forward wine that was not aged in barrels and underwent 50% malolactic fermentation. The grapes used to make this wine were grown in the Double T Vineyard. Their Cabernet Sauvignon is made from Cliff Vineyard in the Coombsville region.

We opened a bottle of the 1975 Tulocay Cabernet Sauvignon for our 2009 Christmas dinner. I was thinking that the wine would really show some age and perhaps I had waited too long to open it. I was very pleased! The wine showed very little browning, and was a deep garnet red color. There was still some fruit and the wine was in perfect balance! A great wine! This was a single bottle from our cellar and must have been a single bottle purchase. I can only image the power of this wine in it's youth...probably right up there with the 1974 BV, 75 Stags leap, and 75 Heitz Martha's vineyard.
