Tricycle Wine Company owns Poseidon’s Vineyard in the Carneros AVA and Obsidian Ridge Vineyard in the Red Hills AVA in Lake County. Winemaker Michael Terrien produces all of the wines with estate grown fruit from 1 of these 2 properties.
Rather than using French or American oak barrels like most California wineries, Tricycle imports oak barrels from Budapesti Kádár Cooperage in the Tokaj region of Hungary. In addition to his vineyard management duties, Peter Molnar is in charge of production at the Hungarian cooperage.
Molnar Family produces Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with grapes grown in Poseidon’s Vineyard in the Carneros region. The winery’s most recent releases include 2,256 cases of the 2005 Chardonnay and 1,128 cases of the 2005 Pinot Noir.
Kazmer & Blaise produces very limited amounts of Pinot Noir from a special block in Poseidon’s Vineyard named Primo’s Hill. In 2002, 1,183 cases of this wine were produced.
Obsidian Ridge makes 2 single vineyard wines: Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Obsidian Ridge Vineyard is perched in the hills between Alexander Valley and Lake County at an elevation of about 2,600 feet.
