Angus and Margaret Wurtele are the owners of Terra Valentine. Mr. Wurtele is a proven businessman who now applies his skills to the wine industry. He focuses on producing mountain Cabernet Sauvignon.

Upon arriving in the Napa Valley in 1995, Angus and Margaret Wurtele initially purchased a small vineyard in the Spring Mountain AVA. 4 years later the substantially increased their holdings buy buying the 80 acre Yverdon Vineyard up the road.
The 17,000 square foot winery was built in 1970 and sits at about 2,100 feet above sea level over the town of St Helena. The Wurteles bought the production facility in 1999 and made several improvements.
The winery has a young, but very talented production team. Sam Baxter is the winemaker and general manager. He graduated from UC Davis in 1998 with a degree in enology and became the cellarmaster of Terra Valentine the next year and winemaker in 2002. Haley Wight is from a long-time St Helena family and is the winery’s enologist.
Since its founding, Terra Valentine has focused on producing Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2002 Wurtele Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is a stunning wine made with grapes from the excellent 2002 vintage. It was aged in 40% new French oak for 22 months.
