Summerwood Winery owns a 46 acre, estate vineyard in the Paso Robles AVA. Vines are planted very densely in soils that are peppered with calcareous deposits. This reduces grape yields and increases flavor concentration. Summerwood’s philosophy is to be very gentle to the grapes throughout the growing season.
The winemaking team is headed by Scott Hawley. His wines rich and intense, without sacrificing balance. Hawley achieves this rare combination through his masterful blending.
The Sentio IV is a red Bordeaux blend with blackberry, plum, and blackcurrant flavors. Summerwood also makes the Diosa and Diosa Blanc blends with Rhone grapes. Rounding out the winery’s production are Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Chardonnay, Syrah, and a Vin Rouge, which is a proprietary blend.
The Paso Robles AVA is characterized by warm days and cool nights. The temperature fluctuations can reach as much as 50 degrees in the summer. These are ideal conditions for the hearty red wines that Summerwood excels at making.

Just tried the Syrah and need to say it is more than a keeper. Without question the finest bottle of Syrah I have ever tasted. The Merlot is also an outstanding bottle of wine as well.
