In 1999, Pat Stryker and Craig & Karen MacDonald established Stryker Sonoma. Their gorgeous tasting room and winery were completed a few years ago. The building’s many windows allows for unparalleled views of the surrounding vineyards and countryside.
Stryker makes many different wines with a number of varietals. But overall production is limited to 7,000 cases, and no more than 1,000 cases are made of any single example. Their wines are only available for purchase in the tasting room and online.
The Stryker 2002 Monte Rosso Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is made with grapes from the famous property on the Sonoma side of the Mayacamas Mountains. Monte Rosso is named after its conspicuous red soil and is sits at about 1,000 feet above the Sonoma Valley floor. This wine was aged in 100% French oak for 28 months before bottling.
In addition to the Monte Rosso, Stryker makes several other Cabs including the Two Moon Vineyard from Dry Creek Valley, Speedy Creek Vineyard from Knights Valley, Estate Vineyard from Alexander Valley, and Sonoma County Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon.
