Steltzner Vineyards is a Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot specialist in Napa Valley’s Stags Leap AVA. Richard Steltzner began planting his vines in 1965, and has been making growing grapes on the same property for over 4 decades. In addition to his estate vineyard, he also has substantial holdings in the nearby Oak Knoll AVA.
In 1977, Steltzner Vineyards produced its first commercial vintage. The production facilities were built in 1983 to handle an annual capacity of 3,000 cases. In 1989, the Steltzner Family began expanding their winery as well as building a beautiful underground cave for storage, tastings, and dinners.
The winery currently has several wines available for purchase. These include the 2005 Napa Valley and Lake County Sauvignon Blanc, 2005 “Allison” Rose of Syrah, 2004 Oak Knoll Chardonnay, 2003 Napa Valley Claret, 2002 Stags Leap Merlot, and the 2003 Stags Leap Cabernet Sauvignon.
Steltzner also makes a number of excellent reserve wines including the 2002 Reserve Barrel Select Stags Leap Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2000 and 2002 Stags Leap Family Reserve Cuvee (red Bordeaux blends), 2004 Reserve Stags Leap Pinotage, 2004 Reserva Stags Leap Sangiovese, and the Terraces Merlot Port.
