Showket Vineyards is located in the eastern hills of the Oakville AVA at an elevation of about 600 feet above sea level. Heidi Barrett makes all of Showket’s wines and only uses estate grapes.
Kal and Dorothy Showket bought the property in 1988 and hired Pina Vineyard Management to completely replant the existing vines with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Sangiovese.
The Showket Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the most difficult wines to acquire in the Napa Valley. It contains 2% Cabernet Franc and was aged for 20 months in French oak.
The Asante Sana is a “Super Tuscan” blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. Piero Antinori of Atlas Peak Vineyards helped to start this style in Tuscany. Heidi Barret also makes the Showket Vineyards Estate Sangiovese. Only 250 cases of this wine are made each year.
