Sherwin Family Vineyards produces an excellent Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. All of the grapes used to make this wine were grown on the Sherwin Family’s estate vineyard perched high in the Spring Mountain AVA.

Sherwin Family Vineyards is located at an elevation of about 2,000 feet in the Spring Mountain AVA above the town of St Helena. In 1996, Steve and Linda Sherwin moved to their new mountain home from the San Francisco East Bay.

To their delight, there were 3 acres of extremely old Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc vines that were originally planted on the property during the late 19th century. The couple began planting more vines and recently completed construction of a brand new gravity-flow winery.

The Sherwin Family’s first wine was produced during the 1996 vintage and released in 1999. The 140 cases were immediately sold to local restaurants and wine shops.

The Sherwin Family Vineyards 2003 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Franc. 1,150 cases of this wine were produced. In the future, quantity will be capped at 2,500 cases each year.
