Before starting Shannon Ridge, Clay and Margarita Shannon owned a vineyard management company. They successfully grew grapes for many wineries, but always dreamed of making their own wine. In the late 1980s, the Shannons began growing Lake County fruit. They were very impressed with the quality and started looking for a piece of property of their own.
Their vines are planted between 2,100 and 2,400 feet above sea level. The Terre Vermeille Vineyard is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Barbera, and Sauvignon Blanc.
Marco DiGiulio is the winemaker at Shannon Ridge. Celestino Castaneda has worked for the Shannons for over a decade and is currently the vineyard manager.
