Sbragia Family Vineyards is located in the Dry Creek Valley AVA. Ed Sbragia has been making wine for Beringer for over 30 years. He owns 3 Dry Creek vineyards including the Home Ranch (Chardonnay and Merlot), Gino’s Vineyard (Zinfandel), and Andolsen Vineyard (Cabernet Sauvignon).
Sbragia also makes a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon from Mike Martini’s legendary Monte Rosso Vineyard in Sonoma Valley. In the Napa Valley, Cabernet Sauvignon is purchased from Rancho del Oso Vineyard and Chardonnay is sourced from Gamble Ranch Vineyard.
The Sbragia Family 2004 Dry Creek Valley Home Ranch Chardonnay was ranked #72 on Wine Spectator’s 2006 Top 100 list. It was made with grapes grown only a mile from the cooling influence of Dry Creek. The Merlot is made with grapes from the same 8 acre estate property.
The Monte Rosso Cabernet Sauvignon is made with grapes from vines that are 20 to 40 years old. This is one of the oldest and most consistent Cab vineyards in California. It is named for its conspicuously red volcanic soil.
