Sausal Winery

Mark as Favorite

Sausal Winery is located on Highway 128 just north of the town of Healdsburg. The winery produces 3 excellent Zinfandels, Cabernet Sauvignon, and several other varietals. Sausal is owned by third generation Italian Americans.

The Sausal Blanc is made with 100% Chenin Blanc. This grape is indigenous to France’s Loire Valley and reaches its greatest heights when made in an off-dry style in the Vouvray AC. Sausal makes a refreshing style that does justice to this noble grape.

Italian for, “golden dreams,” Sogni d’ Oro is an estate blend of 38% Sangiovese, 28% Carignane, 28% Zinfandel, and 6% Syrah. It is a full-bodied, yet voluptuous wine with very well-rounded, integrated tannins. Sogni d’ Oro was aged in French oak for 20 months. 240 cases are produced each year.

As the name suggests, the 2004 Century Vines Zinfandel Magnum was made with grapes from vines that are over 100 years old. Actually, they were planted in 1877, and rank amongst the oldest of any producing vines in California. 460 cases of this wine were produced.

The 2003 Family Zinfandel was first produced in 1974 and continues to one of Sausal’s most popular wines. It was aged in a combination of French and American oak for 22 months. This wine has distinctive blueberry notes and is quite delicious.
