Sable Ridge Vineyards specializes in cool weather Syrah. Chuck Barr is the winemaker at this small, Bennett Valley winery.

Region: Sonoma County
Sub Region: Bennett Valley
Wine: View all wines

Sable Ridge Vineyards was originally planted in 1968. Chuck Barr and Mary Ann Costello founded the winery in 1995. They replanted the six acre property and broke it into single acre vineyard blocks. Each is planted with a different varietal or clone.

Chuck Barr is the winemaker, and uses grapes grown in a cool, windy climate. He is best known for Estate Syrah, but also makes Viognier, Petite Sirah, Zinfandel, a Bordeaux blend, and two Syrah blends. Production is under 1,000 cases a year.

Along with their estate vineyard in Bennett Valley, Sable Ridge Vineyards sources grapes from Lodi, Sonoma Valley, Alexander Valley, and Russian River Valley.
