Rutherford Hill
Rutherford Hill is one of the top producers of Merlot in Napa Valley. Founded in 1976, the winery is located in the eastern hills of the Rutherford AVA.

The Terlato Family has been marketing and distributing Rutherford Hill’s wines for several years. The Terlato Wine Group originally distributed the wines to Illinois and was placed in charge of all United States marketing shortly thereafter.
In 1996, Anthony Terlato along with his sons John and Bill bought the property. The family owns Paterno Wines International and has been involved with many successful wineries. But this was the first time they got involved in the production side of the business.
The Terlato Family’s interest in Rutherford Hill speaks very highly of the winery’s quality. However, the Terlatos knew that there was even more potential and they cut the production of their first vintage by 14,000 cases. In 2000, they finished building a 5,000 square foot addition to the winery. The reserve wines are made in these state of the art facilities.
The 60 acre estate vineyard is supplemented by an additional 130 acres of vines that the winery leases. They also buy grapes from a select number of high quality vineyards. Merlot is Rutherford Hill’s specialty.
