RustRidge Ranch and Winery is on land that was once used solely for raising thoroughbreds. Current owner Susan Meyer’s family bought the property in 1972 and planted their first vineyards a few years later. In 1985, the Stan and Grant Meyer established RustRidge Winery.

Susan Meyer and her husband Jim Fresquez have owned the winery since 1990. They farm about 60 acres of vineyards on their 442 acre estate. Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc are all organically grown on in their vineyards. Winemaker Kent Rosenblum produces about 2,000 cases a year.

RustRidge makes an interesting non vintage blend of 55 % Zinfandel, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Petite Sirah called Race Horse Red. They were one of the first to blend Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel.

The winery is located just east of Lake Hennessy and is only about a 15 minute drive from Silverado Trail. Horses are still raised on part of the property and there is also a four bedroom bed and breakfast on the grounds.
