Paradise Ridge

Mark as Favorite

Located in the Russian River Valley, Paradise Ridge offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Owners Walter and Marijke Byck have a love for life and it comes through in their thoughtfully produced wines.

Paradise Ridge specializes in several single vineyard wines from different parts of Sonoma County. The winery’s Rockpile Cabernet Sauvignon is particularly sought after and is made in very limited quantities.

Walter and Marijke Byck first moved to Santa Rosa in 1965. In 1978, they purchased a stunning, 156 acre estate that they aptly named Paradise Ridge. The couple initially planted Sauvignon Blanc followed by Chardonnay. After several excellent harvests, the Byck Family established their winery in 1994. In 1997, the Bycks expanded their vineyard to include Syrah, Petite Sirah, and Zinfandel.

The grapes used to make the 2001 Elevation Rockpile Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon were grown at 2,000 feet above sea level. They receive ample sunlight and are grown in the red, rocky soils that characterize much of Rockpile. A bit of Merlot and Petit Verdot is added for balance.
