Located within sight of the ocean, Pacific Star Winery is truly a coastal winery. It is located in the Mendocino AVA a few miles north of Fort Brag. Sally Ottoson is the winemaker as well as a managing partner.

In 1972, winemaker Sally Ottoson started her career working for the Wine Garden (a wine bar) in Napa Valley. She soon became interested in the production side of the business and worked for several wineries before founding Star Hill Winery in 1983.

At Star Hill, Ottoson specialized in Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay. She gained quite a following, but decided to establish a Mendocino winery along the rugged cliffs of the Pacific Ocean. In 1987, Pacific Star Winery was born. Ottoson sources grapes from several premium grape growers including Testa, Stevenson, Brown, and Graziano.

Pacific Star’s current releases include the 2001 Pinot Noir, 2001 Grenache, 2002 Chardonnay, 2002 Viognier, 2002 Carignane, 2000 Charbono, 2001 Petite Sirah, 2002 Barbera, 2001 Reserve Zinfandel, 2001 Syrah, and 2001 Dad’s Daily Red (blend of Carignane, Grenache, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, and Charbono).
