Moss Creek Winery

Moss Creek Winery and Moskowite Family Vineyards is located in Capell Valley in the eastern part of the Napa Valley AVA. Although the vines encompass 145 acres, only the best grapes are used in Moss Creek’s estate wines.

The Moskowites have been farming and raising cattle for nearly 9 decades. In 1972, Harold Moskowite established the first vineyard on his family’s 1,300 acre ranch. The property is currently planted with 162 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Petite Sirah, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc.

The vines are grown between 835 and 900 feet above sea level. This higher elevation causes temperatures to generally be cooler than on the Napa Valley floor. The property’s loamy soils are peppered with obsidian and other volcanic rocks.

In 1999, George and Ann Moskowite established Moss Creek Winery. They sell many of their grapes, but also produce a limited amount of estate wine. Winemaker Nils Venge handcrafts Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Zinfandel, Merlot, and Sauvignon Blanc.
