Montevina Winery

In 1970, Carey Gott established Montevina Winery in Shenandoah Valley. The Trinchero Family, (owners of Sutter Home), bought the winery in 1988 to focus on a line of boutique wines.

Montevina currently produces 130,000 cases a year and specializes in Cal-Italian varietals. Their Sangiovese and Nebbiolo are bottled under Montevina, and their Zinfandel, Barbera, and Sangiovese are bottled under “Terra d’ Oro.”
The Montevina 2000 Terra d’Oro School House Road Zinfandel is a critically acclaimed wine made with grapes from the Shenandoah Valley AVA. Made with 80% Zinfandel, 13% Petite Sirah and 7% Barbera, this vintage has forward fruit-flavors, spice and acidity. It is made from the winery’s estate vineyard.
A great value is the Montevina 2002 Terra d’Oro Zinfandel. This is a good example of a powerful Zinfandel from the Sierra Foothills. It pairs nicely with robust dishes.
