Merry Edwards owns Meredith Vineyard Estate in Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley AVA. Her Pinot Noir is particularly noteworthy, but she makes very good Sauvignon Blanc.
Merry Edwards has been making wine for over 30 years. In 1973, she graduated from UC Davis with a masters in Food Science and Enology. Four years later, she was hired as the founding winemaker at Matanzas Creek in the current Bennett Valley AVA. She won many awards for the winery and built its premium quality reputation from the ground up.
After making her own wines for a few years in the late 1980s, Merry began devoting the majority of her time to consulting. The worked with many outstanding wineries and was one of the first consultants who could sell a wine just by attaching her name.
In 1997, she established Meredith Vineyard Estate with an emphasis on producing Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. Her 2002 Klopp Ranch Methode a Lancienne Pinot Noir was awarded an impressive #21 ranking by Wine Spectator’s 2006 Top 100 List.
