Maple Creek Winery

Mark as Favorite

Maple Creek Winery is located in the Yorkville Highlands AVA in Southern Mendocino County. The 12 acres of vines are split between Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, Chardonnay, and a rare cross called Symphony. About 3,000 cases of wine are made each year.

Tom Rodrigues and Linda Stutz are the owners of Maple Creek. Rodrigues is also the winemaker and created the winery’s labels. He calls his production “Artevino” and it truly is a blend of art and wine.

Rodrigues makes a nice Reserve Chardonnay that was aged for just enough time in oak. It has toasty and vanilla flavors. He also makes a wine with the Symphony grape which is a cross between Grenache Gris and Muscat of Alexandria. This is a very floral wine with ripe tropical flavors. It is made in an off dry style.

Maple Creek makes another very interesting wine with Primitivo grapes. It is made as a rose with a bit of residual sugar. Primitivo is a red grape that is related to Zinfandel. Rodrigues allows the must to macerate in the skins for a short time to give this wine its light red color.

The Artevino Cowboy Red is a full bodied blend of Zinfandel, Merlot, and Carignane. This wine will stand up to very hearty foods.
