Madrona Vineyards sits at over 3,000 feet above sea level, and is the most elevated vineyard property in California. Madrona produces handcrafted wines that are a very good value. They specialize in Syrah and Riesling.

Owned by the Bush Family, Madrona Vineyards is located in the El Dorado AVA. At an average elevation of over 3,000 feet, these are the highest vineyards in California. They recently bought 250 acres at 3,600 feet and plans to plant vines here as well.

Madrona Vineyards is aptly named after the historic Madrone tree that stands in their mountain top vines. During the growing season, the 35 acre estate vineyard enjoys long, warm days, and cool nights. These conditions provide a long growing season for the vines, producing well balanced fruit with intense flavors.

The original vines that were planted are now over 20 years old and are in their grape producing prime. The vineyard is composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Zinfandel, and Riesling. In recent years, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Petite Sirah and Gewurztraminer have also been planted.

Madrona’s white wines include Chardonnay, Riesling, and a blend called Mélange de Trois. Mélange is composed of Marsanne, Roussanne, and Viognier. Madrona also makes a number of red wines including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cab Franc, Nebbiolo, Zinfandel, Syrah, and a red blend called Quintet.
