Lane Tanner Winery

Lane Tanner Winery is located in Northern Santa Barbara County’s Santa Maria AVA. Ms. Tanner is a Pinot Noir and Syrah specialist and has developed quite a following for her wines.

Only 231 cases were made of the 2001 Reserve Syrah. Lane Tanner chooses a different vineyard to make this wine each year and in 2001 she chose grapes Colson Canyon Vineyard in Santa Barbara County. At less than 3 tons an acre, grape yields were very low. The wine was aged in 100% new French oak for 18 months.

The 2004 Julia’s Vineyard Pinot Noir is made with grapes from a beautiful piece of property near the famous Bien Nacido Vineyard. At a very moderate 13.2% alcohol, the delicate aromas and flavor profile of Pinot is not overwhelmed, but accentuated.

Lane Tanner also makes Pinots from Bien Nacido as well as the general Santa Maria Valley AVA. Additionally, her 2003 French Camp Vineyard Syrah has turned heads in the wine industry.
