Lake Sonoma Winery

Mark as Favorite

Lake Sonoma Winery is located in the northern part of the Dry Creek Valley. Views from the winery are particularly beautiful in an already stunning AVA. Gary Heck is the owner of the winery and vineyards.

Gary Heck is the current owner of the winery and the 20 estate acres of vineyards. He makes wines from the Dry Creek Valley, the Alexander Valley and the Russian River Valley. Heck’s strict dedication to quality is evident in his following statement: “If in one season the climate is such that the grapes are not to our quality standards, we won’t make Lake Sonoma wine from them.”

The Lake Sonoma 1999 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a powerful wine that pairs well with hearty food. The tannins are still a bit lively, but will mellow with age. Forward fruit flavors help to balance this full-bodied wine.

The winery’s Zinfandel is made with fruit grown on the Dry Creek Conglomerate. This region is particularly renowned for its gravelly, well-drained soils. It is the Dry Creek Valley’s answer to the Oakville-Rutherford Bench in the Napa Valley. Lake Sonoma’s Zinfandel is a ripe, full-bodied wine.
