In 1979, La Crema Winery was established in Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley. Although the production facilities are not open to the public, La Crema has a beautiful tasting room in the town of Healdsburg.
Melissa Stackhouse has been the winemaker at La Crema since 2001. She has a degree in Viticulture and Enology from UC Davis. Hector Bedolla is the winery’s vineyard manager. He majored in Plant Science at UC Davis.
The 2005 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir has the classic flavors of cherries and plums over a layer of herbaceousness that suggests tea leaves. This wine won the coveted Gold Medal at the 2006 Sonoma County Harvest Fair.
La Crema’s 2005 Russian River Valley Chardonnay was aged in 31% new French oak barrels for 9 months to add a bit of structure without overwhelming the vibrant varietal characteristics. This wine has a definite toastiness to it and has 14.4% alcohol.
