Kapcsándy Family Winery currently produces an outstanding Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. In 2000, they purchased State Lane Vineyard from the McClaskey Family after phylloxera killed the vines. The McClaskey Family leased State Lane Vineyard to Beringer from 1972 to 1999.
Beringer initially used these grapes for a single vineyard wine, and later blended them into their Private Reserve. Unfortunately, the vines were planted on rootstocks that were susceptible to the phylloxera outbreak of the 1980s and 1990s. Immediately after buying the property in 2000, the Kapcsándy Family began replanting State Lane Vineyard.
Their first vintage (2004) was produced by Helen Turley and scored an impressive 95 points by Robert Parker. This wine was a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. In 2005, Denis Malbec and Rob Lawson began making the wine.
