Jekel Vineyards
Founded in 1972, Jekel Vineyards was one of the first wineries in Monterey County to produce high quality wines. Mr. Jekel takes meticulous care in only planting grapes that are well suited to the specific climate and terrain of different parts of his property.

Located in Arroyo Seco, Jekel Vineyards has been producing quality wine since their first release in 1978. They make a wide selection of wines including Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon based blends.
The key to the winery’s success is the enviable climate and terrain of their two vineyards. Gravelstone and Sanctuary Estate are both located in windy, cool climates. Wines made from these grapes are known for their finesse and complexity.
Although the impact of quality vineyard practices on Jekel’s success cannot be overstated, winemaker Cara Morrison also brings expertise and experience to the team. Her 2002 Gravelstone Chardonnay was designated as one of the, “great values in California Chardonnay,” by Wine Spectator.
Chardonnay is not the only wine that Jekel has received awards for. Their Salinas Valley Riesling won the gold medal at the California State Wine Competition. With these credentials, it is easy to see why Jekel is one of the most popular wineries in Monterey County.
