J Vineyards & Winery
Jordan originally focused all of her efforts on producing sparkling wines in the traditional method. To that end, she used her extensive knowledge of geology to begin acquiring choice Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines in the Russian River Valley. Jordan’s trademark Brut received an immediate following and she began to turn her attention to making other wines.
She currently owns about 250 acres of vineyards and produces still versions Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris. The winery is also experimenting with Rhone varietals, namely Viognier and Syrah.
Oded Shakked leads the winemaking team at J Vineyards & Winery. Shakked graduated from the UC Davis Enology and Viticulture Program and began working for J in 1988. Starting as a cellar worker, within two years he had been promoted to head winemaker.
Shakked takes a refreshing approach to vinifying the delicate varietals grown in Jordan’s vineyards. Mirroring the masters in the Champagne region of France, his winemaking is an exercise in finesse rather than brute power.
