J Lohr Vineyards

Mark as Favorite

Located in the Paso Robles AVA, J Lohr Vineyards is owned by Jerome J Lohr. Before establishing his vineyards, he had already been farming in California for many years. The winery currently produces about one-half a million cases of wine annually.

In 1972, Mr. Lohr planted his first grapes in Monterey County’s Arroyo Seco AVA. After this initial success, he began looking all over California for another premium grape growing property. He found what he was looking for in 1988, when he purchased 2,000 acres in Paso Robles.

J Lohr Vineyards has since become one of the most recognized names in California’s wine industry. The winery produces 3 different levels of wines at ascending price points: J Lohr Estates, J Lohr Vineyard Series, and J Lohr Cuvee Series. Mr. Lohr also produces 3 value driven labels: Cypress, Painter Bridge, and Crosspoint Vineyards.

The 2001 Cuvee POM is made in the style of the Pomerol AC, located on the Right Bank in the Bordeaux region of France. This is a blend of 96% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon. It was aged in 100% new French oak for 24 months.

The 2002 Cuvee PAU is made in the style of the Pauillac AC, located on the Left Bank (Medoc) in Bordeaux. A blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Merlot, this wine was aged in 100% new French oak for 24 months.
