Honig Vineyards
In 1964, Louis Honig planted Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc in the Rutherford wine region. Honig Vineyards initially sold grapes to other wineries in the Napa Valley.

In 1964, Louis Honig started Honig Vineyards in Rutherford. He was solely a grape grower and did not produce wine commercially. Mr. Honig passed away in 1981, and left his vineyards to children and grandchildren. The family made their first wine that year in memory of Louis.
In 1984, Louis’ grandson, Michael, began running the winery at the young age of 22. From the beginning, he focused on Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc with grapes from the vines his grandfather planted.
The estate vineyard is near the Napa River in the heart of the Rutherford AVA. The soil is made of sandy-loam over gravel. Honig also buys Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc from Stagecoach Ranch in Atlas Peak, Sauvignon Blanc from Dalraddy Ranch in Chiles Valley, and Cabernet Sauvignon from Bartolucci Vineyard in St Helena.
Kristin Belair is the winemaker at Honig Vineyards. She has a degree in Enology from UC Davis. Belair makes single vineyard Cabs from Bartolucci and Stagecoach, a Napa Valley Cab, an Estate and Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc, and a late harvest Sauvignon Blanc.

I'm a big fan of their Bartolucci Vineyard Cabernet. It's an excellent example of a ultra premium single vineyard Napa Cab.
