Hollys Hill Vineyards

Hollys Hill Vineyards is a small, family owned and operated producer that is located in the elevated El Dorado AVA. The winery focuses solely on Rhone varietals, which are well suited to the local climate and terrain.

Hollys Hill Vineyards produces several grapes from Southern France’s Rhone Valley. Red varietals include Syrah, Mourvedre, Grenache, and Counoise. The winery also makes white wine with Viognier and Roussanne as well as a dry Rose and a few blends.

In 1998, Tom and Holly Cooper established their first Syrah vineyard at 2,700 feet above sea level. This is within a few hundred feet of the most elevated vines in California. In 2000, the couple planted their Mourvedre, Grenache, Counoise, Viognier, and Roussanne.

Ever since the couple drank a bottle of Chateauneuf-du-Pape on their honeymoon, Tom and Holly have been life long devotees of wine made with Rhone Valley grapes. They worked hard to find the best clones available for their specific piece of land.

The Coopers make their wines in a restrained fashion and eschew over-ripening their grapes and over-oaking their wines. Their Patriarche and Patriarche Blanc are their flagship blends; they are made with the best grapes from each vintage.
