in the 1880's my wife's great grandfather, Dr. Francis Wrightson, a PhD in chemistry, and his family lived in Wild Horse valley. We assume that he was studying soils, and the growth of grapes in the Napa Region, as that is something his Doctoral Dissertataion involved.
