Heller Estate Vineyards

Heller Estate is perched high above the Carmel Valley floor in the Cachuaga region. Their mountain vineyards are certified organic. Neither herbicides nor pesticides are used in the vineyards.

Heller Estate was recently certified as 100% organic, but they have been employing these environmentally friendly practices for many years. Their vineyards are located 1,200 feet above seas level. Because of this altitude, there is a significant fluctuation between daytime and nighttime temperatures.

The vineyards are dry farmed, causing the vines’ roots to delve deep into the ground for water. Soils are loamy and sandy. The flavors become concentrated, and the wines produced from these grapes are bold and complex. The vineyards are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Chenin Blanc.

Since their inception, Heller Estate has been producing excellent wines. Their Cabernet Sauvignon is made in a rich, extracted style. Its tannins will mellow with several years of age. Their Chardonnay will also develop for five to seven years; rare for California.
