Hart Family Winery
Hart Winery is a family winery, founded by Joe and Nancy Hart who settled in the Temecula Valley in the 1970s. Soon after moving to Temecula’s wine country, they started planted their first vines. That vineyard featured Syrah, Viognier, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. By 1980, they had built the winery and had produced and sold their first bottles. The Hart family still prides itself on its family-run, small-scale winery. The family produces about 5,000 cases of wine annually.
With a strong belief in the sense of place and characer, the Harts produce varietals and blends that they feel reflect the Temecula Valley and the family. The winery even has a 2008 vintage called “Tres Hermanos,” so named for the Harts’s three sons. This blend consists of Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah. The winery describes it as a complex wine with a harmonious and diverse character. The 2007 Driveway Red is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes grown on vines around the winery’s driveway. The Hart Winery self-describes its 2006 Cabernet Franc as one of its most consistently popular wines and an award winner.
Hart Winery offers tastings 7 days a week and offers a member’s club. Club members and website visitors may read the Hart Winery newsletter to learn about new releases, wines in production, winery news and recipes to complement Hart label wines. The Hart family also is breaking ground for a new, additional tasting room at Milagro Farm Vineyards in San Diego County.
