Mr. Groth was an executive for Atari before moving to the Napa Valley. He originally purchased the 121 acre Oakcross Vineyard which was planted by Justin Meyer and Ray Duncan of Silver Oak.
In addition to Oakcross Vineyard, Mr. Groth also owns a vineyard located south of the Yountville wine region. His 44 acre Hillview Vineyard is planted with Chardonnay and Merlot.
Ben Benson has been the long time vineyard manager for Groth. He uses a variety of clones, rootstocks, and trellises. Michael Weis has been the winemaker for Groth Vineyards since 1994. There are few wineries in the Napa Valley have the reputation for consistency that Groth does.
