Gnarly Head’s 2004 Old Vine Zinfandel was made with grapes from vines ranging between 35 to 80 years old. This wine was aged in a combination of French, American, and Hungarian oak. With 14.5% alcohol and fruit forward flavors, this is a well-balanced wine.
The winery won several awards for their 2004 vintage including a Gold Medal at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, Gold Medal at the 2006 Monterey Wine Competition, and Gold Medal at the 2006 San Antonio Express-News Wine Competition.
Gnarly Head’s 2005 Old Vine Zinfandel was also aged in French, American, and Hungarian oak. It has spicy black fruit flavors as well as chocolate notes from being aged in oak barrels.
